Remote Sensing of Environment and Climate Change
Institute
National Center for Remote Sensing and Geo-Informatics (NCRG), Karachi, Pakistan
Basic knowledge of Earth sciences and allied fields with some computer knowledge
Objectives
Pakistan is highly vulnerable due to the impact of climate change. Experts warned that impact would be severe in coming years due to five major risks associated with climate change i.e. glacier retreats, floods, rise in sea level, floods and higher frequency of drought. Satellite remote sensing along with Geo-Information Technology is the effective way to assess impact of climate change.
This training aims at providing hands-on to the researchers, subject specialists, environmentalist, Policy makers, teachers and students to apply sophisticated tools for studying environment, glaciers and climate change through Remote Sensing technology.
Contents of Course
Satellite and field based aerosol and pollutant monitoring
Dispersion modeling technique
Satellite Based Glacier Monitoring
Satellite Based Climate Change
Satellite data sources for environment and climate change
