Scientific and Technical Information Exchange

SUPARCO interacts with various international space agencies and R&D organisations for exchange of technical information, provision of data, consultancy services, and collaborative studies in the areas of mutual interest. Some of the activities are as follows:

 

 

European Space Agency (ESA) agreed to provide ENVISAT data to SUPARCO free of cost for the Project titled 'Natural Hazards Monitoring in Pakistan' for research purposes.

Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images of Canada's RADARSAT have been used to determine and calculate the oil spill area near the coast of Karachi after the accident of Greek registered MT Tasman Spirit oil tanker.

.

 

Records of Magnetic Storms acquired by SUPARCO's Geomagnetic Observatory at Karachi are regularly provided to World Data Center (WDC), Colorado, USA for publication in their data prompts reports. Also, predicted /real solar data are being regularly provided to SUPARCO by WDC.

.

 

Geomagnetic data recorded by SUPARCO's Geomagnetic Observatory at Karachi is regularly provided to the Institute of Geophysics, Beijing; British Geological Survey, Edinburgh, UK and Russian Academy of Sciences, Izmiran, Moscow for use in geomagnetic global modeling.

.

 

The UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) has been extending support to SUPARCO scientists and engineers by sponsoring the training courses on remote sensing applications organised / co-organised by them.
